International Dialogue on NRN Act Strengthens Global Nepali Engagement

An important international workshop focused on strengthening the Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) legal framework was successfully held on 13–14 February 2026 at Club Himalaya. The high-level gathering brought together policymakers, legal experts, diaspora leaders, and stakeholders to discuss reforms aimed at protecting the rights, identity, and contributions of Nepalis living abroad.

Among the prominent participants was Rojina Pradhan Rai, Vice President of NRNA ICC, who emphasized the need for a progressive and inclusive NRN Act that reflects the evolving realities of the global Nepali diaspora. She highlighted that collaboration between international communities and national institutions is vital to ensure policies remain relevant, forward-looking, and impactful.

The workshop, held in the scenic hill destination of Nagarkot, provided a platform for constructive dialogue on legal rights, investment opportunities, citizenship concerns, and diaspora engagement strategies. Experts shared global best practices and discussed how the updated legal framework can empower Non-Resident Nepalis to contribute more effectively to national development.

Participants noted that strengthening legal protections will not only safeguard diaspora interests but also enhance international cooperation and economic growth in Nepal. The discussions underscored a shared commitment to building a stronger bridge between Nepal and its global community.

In her closing remarks, Rai reaffirmed the collective vision of advancing national progress through unity and collaboration, stressing that the future of Nepal is closely connected with the energy, expertise, and dedication of Nepalis worldwide. The workshop concluded with optimism and renewed momentum toward modernizing the NRN Act to meet the needs of an increasingly globalized Nepali society.
