Shishir Khanal Assumes Office as Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Announces Expansion of Consular Services
Kathmandu, Monday — Shishir Khanal formally assumed office today as the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal, marking the beginning of his tenure with a focus on administrative reform and service delivery enhancement.
Upon his arrival at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Minister was warmly received by Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai along with senior government officials. During the welcome meeting, the Foreign Secretary briefed Minister Khanal on the Ministry’s ongoing activities, priorities, and institutional framework, while reaffirming the Ministry’s full commitment to supporting his leadership.
In one of his first executive decisions, Minister Khanal approved the expansion of the online system under the Department of Consular Services. The move is aimed at improving efficiency, accessibility, and transparency in the delivery of essential public services to citizens at home and abroad.
Addressing Ministry officials, the newly appointed Minister emphasized the need for a more innovative, results-oriented, and impactful approach in Nepal’s foreign policy execution.
